BLOG #2 In my public speaking class, we were assigned a project where we had to work in groups and present about a changemaker from the 2000s. James is my favorite basketball player so I felt super confident in presenting, I knew that thus will go smoothly I had a lot of confidence going into it.  A changemaker is someone who uses their influence or success to make a positive impact on others. I decided to focus on  LeBron James . At first I thought it would mostly be about basketball, but after researching him more, I realized that his impact goes way beyond sports. Working on this project taught me a lot about teamwork, research, and what it takes to present information in front of a class. I wasn’t completely sure how things would go. I usually prefer working by myself because group projects can sometimes be difficult if everyone has different schedules or different ways of working. But once our group started talking about the topic and splitting up the work, things b...

March 11, 2026 Oliver Pompee Everyone finally finished their presentation on Changemakers. My group, Group 3, did one on the 2000s, and honestly? It was way more intriguing than I thought, especially with the changemakers. My classmates didn’t just pick politicians or billionaires in suits, but people who actually shifted culture, health, tech, or opportunity for regular people. And starting off, I went with Sara Blakely (the founder of Spanx, youngest self-made female billionaire, total boss), but hearing what everyone else chose made me realize the 2000s were pretty stacked with people who started from basically nothing and changed the whole game. I liked how one of the leaders, Manuel, started things off with the intro and overview of who a changemaker is. He was explaining a lot in the beginning, describing the changemakers my group chose as people who took creative action helping not just a large group of people but everyone in the environment through things such as (chariti...

My Experience Doing the change maker project.      The Change Maker project was one of the projects I actually enjoyed doing. At first I thought it would just be a normal assignment where we pick someone, research them, and present it. But once everyone started working on it and presenting, it became a lot more interesting than I expected. I liked learning about different people who made a difference in the world, and I especially liked hearing about the change makers that my classmates chose.      One thing I liked about the project was being able to choose a change maker. It made the project feel more personal because everyone picked someone they thought was interesting or inspiring. When I started researching my change maker, I learned about the things they did and the impact...

Saida Izatova When our class began preparing for the next collaborative assignment, I was excited to learn that we would be presenting on "Changemakers of the 2000s". Unlike the previous presentation where we focused primarily on theories or textbook concepts, this project centered on real individuals whose work has shaped the world we live in today. Learning about people who made meaningful contributions to society, made the assignments feel more personal and engaging. My chosen changemaker was Al Gore, and researching his work turned out to be both interesting and inspiring. One detail that made the start of this project, especially positive for our group was that we were the first team to choose our presentation topic. As soon as the list of possible eras became available, our group reacted very quickly. Everyone was active in our group chat, and we voted almost immediately on which topic we wanted to present. I really appreciated how responsive and eager my teammates wer...
BLOG#1  Jeremiah Previl Group 3: When I had firstly realized I had public speaking I assumed that this was going to be fairly difficult for me from the aspect that I never really worked in groups and always found myself being the odd man out when it came to group projects preferring to always work individually or the tables always turning that way for me. Thru the class I've not only gained a new skill and perspective and importance of the way I only present presentations but the way I present myself when speaking to others and controlling the environment but also being part of a team and helping one another. But through this class, I ended up gaining more than just another grade or another assignment finished. I gained a new skill set, a new perspective, and a new understanding of how important it is not only to present a topic but to present your when speaking to others. I ended up gaining more than just another grade or another assignment finished. I gained a new skill set,...

Oliver Pompee  February 5, 2026 Reflections on The Group Presentations: What I Learned from Watching My Classmates talked about Through the Public Speaking Presentations To start off, this essay ima be reflecting my personal thoughts on how the presentations were given by each of the groups. Each group covered different aspects of public speaking, that I liked hearing and I’ll be discussing which parts grabbed my attention and why. As I was hearing what each of the groups were talking about Thankfully through Panopto, because I for sure wouldn’t even be able complete this off the dome of my head trying to remember what each group was saying either way Professor Sinkoff was nice enough give us Panopto being able to go back and review the Videos. Of what each groups from one to four were talking about. A few clips from the videos grabbed my attention . While some other groups had presentations that stuck with me which is good because that just falls back to what I had to talk ...
