When our class began preparing for the next collaborative assignment, I was excited to learn that we would be presenting on "Changemakers of the 2000s". Unlike the previous presentation where we focused primarily on theories or textbook concepts, this project centered on real individuals whose work has shaped the world we live in today. Learning about people who made meaningful contributions to society, made the assignments feel more personal and engaging. My chosen changemaker was Al Gore, and researching his work turned out to be both interesting and inspiring.

One detail that made the start of this project, especially positive for our group was that we were the first team to choose our presentation topic. As soon as the list of possible eras became available, our group reacted very quickly. Everyone was active in our group chat, and we voted almost immediately on which topic we wanted to present. I really appreciated how responsive and eager my teammates were to make a decision together. It showed that everyone was motivated and interested in doing well on the project. Thankfully, we were able to secure the topic of changemakers of the 2000s, which made all of us very happy. Getting the topic we wanted gave us a sense of confidence early in the process and helped us feel positive about the direction of our presentation. It also reminded me how important communication and quick responses are when working as a team. When everyone participate, actively, decisions can be made smoothly and the group can move forward without unnecessary delays.

For my part of the presentation, I focused on Al Gore and his role in raising awareness about climate change. Before starting my research, I mostly knew him as a former Vice President of the United States. However, as I began reading more about his work, I realized that his influence extended far beyond politics. He has spent many years, educating the public about environmental issues and advocating for action against climate change. His documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" became a powerful tool for spreading awareness about the dangers of global warming and the need for environmental responsibility. Learning more about his dedication to environmental activism help me understand how individuals can use their influence to encourage large-scale conversations about global problems. It was inspiring to see how someone with a political background could transition into an advocate for science and environmental protection.

While preparing my slides, I also needed to find a short video that will complement my presentation. At first, I searched for interviewed with Al Gore on YouTube, but many of them were quite long and would not fit well within the time limits of our presentation. Since I wanted to include something engaging without taking too much time, I initially thought about showing the trailer for the documentary "An Inconvenient truth". The trailer summarizes the documentary and introduces the major themes of environmental awareness. However, shortly before class began, I came across a much more modern and interesting video online. In this video, Al Gore answers, popular Google search questions about environment and climate change. The format of the video felt much more interactive and easier for an audience to follow. Because the questions were based on what people commonly search online, the video also made the presentation feel more current and relatable. Finding this video at the last minute ended up being a great addition to my slides and helped make my section of the presentation more engaging.

Compared to our previous group project earlier in the semester, this presentation felt less stressful in terms of teamwork. One reason for this was the structure of the assignment. Instead of dividing the presentation into subgroups where multiple people were dependent heavily on each other's sections, each person in the group was responsible for researching and presenting their own changemaker. They allowed everyone to focus on their individual topic while still contributing to the overall presentation. Because responsibilities were clearly divided, it felt easier to manage the workload and stay organized.

As the group leader, I also enjoyed taking on the responsibility of organizing the project. Leadership roles can sometimes feel overwhelming, but I personally like organizing tasks and planning ahead. Being the group leader gave me the opportunity to help coordinate our progress, remind everyone about deadlines, and make sure that the project stayed on track. I believe that leadership is not just about assigning work, but also about making sure communication stays clear and that everyone feels supported. This role helps me develop important skills such as responsibility, time management, and teamwork, which will be valuable, not only in school, but also in future professional environments.

Fortunately, most of my group members were very responsible and completed their work on time. Many of them stayed in contact through our group chat and shared updates about their progress. This made the entire process much smoother because everyone was aware of what the others were doing. Of course, every group project comes with some challenges. Occasionally, there were small difficulties when someone could not finish a task exactly when planned. However, in overall, most members did a great job, contributing their part to the presentation.

Another important factor that helped our group stay organized with the support from our class leaders. Manny, in particular, was always in contact with us and helped keep everyone informed about updates and expectations. Having someone who literally communicates with the group and answers questions makes a big difference when working on collaborative assignments. His involvement helped our group stay organized and confidence about what we needed to do. He was definitely a great addition to the team.

One of the most interesting parts of this assignment was seeing the wide variety of changemakers chosen by different students in the class. People selected individuals from many different fields, including politics, technology, social, activism, entertainment, and science. These diversity made the presentations much more interesting because we were able to learn about many different types of influence and leadership, it showed that positive change can come from many directions and that people in very different careers can make a meaningful impact on society.

Watching all the groups present their changemakers was also very enjoyable. Some presentations included creative approaches that made them especially memorable. One group, for example, show the video of a theatrical performance about their changemaker's story. In the performance, the actors were singing and telling the story of the individual's achievements from music and stage acting. I found that presentation particularly engaging because it combines storytelling and performance, which made the topic feel more dynamic and entertaining.

Another thing I noticed during the presentations was how different groups managed situations where members could not present during the live class session. Some groups prepared videos in advance so that their presentations could still be shown if someone was absent. Unfortunately, one member of my group informed us at the last minute that she would not be able to complete her video in time. Situations like this can sometimes create stress for a group, but thankfully, Professor Sinkoff was very understanding. We were given the opportunity to present our remaining to changemakers during the next class session. This flexibility helped to reduce pressure on our group and allowed us to finish the presentation properly rather than rushing through incomplete material.

Overall, this assignment helped me strengthen several important skills. Preparing my section required careful research, organization, and creativity in presenting information clearly. It also helped me think more carefully about how visuals, videos, and explanations work together during a presentation. At the same time, the project reminded me how important communication and adaptability are when working in a group.

When I look back on the experience, I feel proud of the work, our group accomplished, and grateful for the opportunity to learn about so many influential individuals from the 2000s and other eras. Researching Al Gore and his efforts to raise awareness about climate change gave me a deeper appreciation for how individuals can influence global conversations about important issues. Observing the work of my classmates also allowed me to see how many different types of changemakers exist in the USA and in the world. In the end, this project reminded me that presentations are not only about sharing information but also about selling meaningful stories about people who have made a difference. It also showed the importance of preparation, teamwork, and adaptability when working on collaborative academic projects. These are skills that I know will continue to benefit me in future classes and professional environments later on.
